Sonia Lowde, commercial trampoline expert at Capital Play / Playgrade Trampolines was interviewed by Autism Eye magazine to provide an article about the benefits of bouncing for autism.
"Bouncing helps to engage children in school, and with spatial awareness and fine-motor co-ordination."
The article covered a range of sports used for therapy for children and adults with autism, from skiing and bouncing to running and snowboarding-boarding.
"Bouncing is brilliant for bouncing off anxious energy, it helps with calmness, patience and concentration - as well as aiding physical fitness of course. The 'science bit' is to do with the sensation of bouncing. It causes deep pressure in the part of the brain that aids concentration, followed by the feeling of weightlessness. Simply put, it helps to engage children in school, and with spatial awareness and the fine-motor co-ordination. Not to mention encouraging confidence and independent play.
"The need for Rebound Therapy has never been greater, but thankfully the Government seems to be recognising this. All we know if the feedback we get from schools is amazing."
